INTRODUCTION TO DRAWING
In this module, students will learn how to use drawing techniques and practices to convey accurate, reliable and understandable information to the construction industry. This includes orthogonal drawings, all the way up to convert the real-world spaces into the drawing. Therefore, we know about analyzing spaces, interpret its key areas and transforming it into painting.
ASSIGNMENTS AND PROJECTS
INTRODUCTION TO TECHNICAL DRAWINGS
This assignment requires our observational skills to accurately map out the specific forms and shapes of an object. We were required to produce a plan, elevations and sections view of the object which we selected and approved by our tutor due to showcase our ability to convert 3D objects into orthographic drawings.
Simple Measured Drawings
With this task, we must further hone our observation skills by organizing and explaining elements in the selected space. This assignment tests our understanding of basic principles and conventions needed to express three-dimensional space accurately as orthogonal graphics.
Orthographic Drawings of Mini Chalet
For our final assignment, we must make use of our understanding of orthographic projections and transfer the drawing information of three-dimensional space, and realize the imaginary space in the field environment; A space on the top of the lake of Taylor Lakeside Campus. As always, drawing conventions and techniques must be considered.
CONCLUSION
In short, this was an exciting module for me, because our tutor always shares her knowledge of our drawing, because she has work experience in this industry, and she always gives comments to improve our painting. In the whole course, I learned many things, such as how to project 3d objects by orthographic method, how to use line width properly, and many different types of architectural symbols. For me, at first, I think this module is very challenging for me because it takes a lot of time to finish a painting, but after I manage my time wisely, I find that it is not what I thought. Lastly, in terms of Taylor's Graduate Capabilities, I can definitively say that I have acquired thinking and problem-solving skills, especially when creating the mini chalet concerning all the limitations imposed. Besides that, I have also indirectly obtained communication skills, by relaying accurate and reliable information via my drawings.
