Project 1
On-site Observation Journal
This project is an on-site exercise where students have to observe, sketch and document the physical and non-physical contexts of the site and the measured building. Physical contexts may include overall urban layout, streetscapes, architecture elements and architectural features. Non-physical contexts may encompass the associated social living and cultural elements. The sketches are accompanied with interpretive captions to demonstrate students' awareness of the contextual relationships between heritage architecture and the place.
Project Outcome
Project 2 & 3
Historical Research Report, Measured Drawing
Students will be tasked to conduct historical research of the measured heritage building and produce a comprehensive report to inform the historical, social and cultural attributes of the measured heritage building. Guided by a clear framework and methodology, students will gather and analyse important historical data of the measured heritage building to interpret and understand the influencing factors on heritage architecture. Individual contribution to this group task will be assessed in the peer evaluation.
